i need to listen to music while i’m painting - it keeps me in my flow state. whenever i get hold of new music i really like, i do what i do best. i obsess. i listen to it again ... and again ... and again ... and again … until i’m entirely ready to move on. i’ve been finding myself putting these newly released albums on repeat lately. here is my favorite song from each album, as well as a humble little review. happy listening!

Metronomy - “Whitsand Bay” from their new album Metronomy Forever, out September 13th.

this album blows my minddd ... experimental, vibrant, evokes a sense of space that is hard to put your finger on … truly, the entire album is gorgeous.

* with the exception of "Salted Caramel Ice Cream" - i can’t skip that song fast enough.

Allah Las - "Polar Onion" from their new album LAHS, out October 11th on Mexican Summer.

although this isn’t necessarily my favorite album of theirs, i will forever be a devout fan. little funky gems like “keeping dry” kept me interested in listening more. that being said, literally any Allah Lahs album is perfect to listen to when we’re on our way to go surfing.

Boy & Bear - “Bird of Paradise” from their new album Suck on Light, out September 25th.

highly anticipated album for a reason - Boy & Bear is consistent and thoughtful. “bad people” is another one of my favorite songs on the album, “…bad people are people are just sad people now…” - how true is that?!
